They told Theresa May that, if MPs back her deal next week, the UK would leave on 22 May. If she fails to get the Commons' backing, she would have until 12 April to decide what to do next. That could mean a no-deal Brexit on that day. Any longer extension would require MPs and the government to agree a new compromise deal with the EU and commit to holding EU elections.
