We went to meet Dr Waheed Arian, who spent his childhood in Afghanistan in the middle of the Soviet conflict. His family fled during the fighting.
We also spoke to Hammasa Kohistani, an Afghan model who moved to the UK when she was just a child and was crowned Miss England in 2005 and is now an advocate for refugee women's mental health, and Nawied Jabarkhyl, a British-Afghan reporter whose family is in Kabul right now.
