Labour pledges £100m to tackle people smuggling but will it make a difference?

The government has pledged £100million to tackle people smuggling gangs including more national crime agency officers and an investment in new technology.

The announcement was immediately derided by the Conservatives, who called it a 'gimmick' and by Reform, whose leader said unidentified males entering the country should simply be detained before being deported.
