The broadcast regulator, the FCC, last week urged local stations that host the ABC network to boycott Kimmel, which in turn led to the ABC Disney conglomerate suspending him indefinitely.
President Trump has been defending his FCC chairman, and batting back accusations that the threat to free speech comes from the oval office.
While also speculating about removing licences of networks that screen content, including news programming, that is in his view, unfair.
