This is the second partial collapse of the Torre dei Conti, which was built in the early 13th century and is undergoing renovations.
The first collapse caused serious injuries to a worker, while two others were lightly hurt and declined to be taken to a hospital.
Workers were trying to extract someone trapped under the rubble when the second collapse happened.
