Hannah Spencer emerged victorious for the Greens with 14,980 votes which was just over 40 per cent of the vote. Reform came second with 10,578.
Labour came third in what had been a rock-solid seat for them with just a quarter of the vote.
The Tories and Lib Dems were each squeezed to below 2 per cent and they lost their deposits.
So the Greens first ever by-election win means they now have five MPs in Westminster.
