The agreement, costing more than £650 million means that Britain will deploy riot-trained police to French beaches, while French authorities will use drones, helicopters, and cameras to intercept people smugglers.
Ministers have said around £100 million of the the total funding could be redirected or withdrawn after a year if not enough journeys are stopped.
The Conservatives have criticised the deal saying 'France shouldn’t get a single penny unless they stop the vast majority of the boats.'
