The governors of Imo and Edo states have both expressed divergent views on the on-going debate over the creation of state police. The two were part of the panel that debated the issue at the 2012 Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) conference in Abuja. The Imo state governor, Mr Rochas Okorocha supports the creation of state police saying every state in Nigeria should be treated as a nation while his counter in Edo state likened the power wielded by state governors over local government polls to the disaster that happen if the governors are given power to control the police.
