In Nigeria alone, about 150,000 babies are born with the Sickle Cell disorder every year.
Many of them in childhood from complications from the disease.
There is prove, however, that the burden created by Sickle Cell can be significantly reduced. sometimes it is simple and inexpensive.
The chances depend on early intervention.
The Head of Clinical Services, Sickle Cell Foundation, Nigeria, Dr. Ajibola Sanda explains how Sickle Cell disease is gotten and the prevention.
