7:08Now PlayingAbout two weeks ago, the Nigerian Consul General to South Africa, Ambassador Uche Ajulu-Chukwu, joined in the launch of the Nigerian Identity Card which can be presented to authorities in South Africa in place of the Nigerian passports.
The card was presented to president Muhammadu Buhari when he was in South Africa for the African Union Summit by the president of the Nigerian Union, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene.
Ambassador Ajulu-Chukwu and Mr Anyene said that the ID card had all the information on the Nigerian passport.
He said that the Nigerian consulate was in talks with the South African government to recognise the card.
