He said ‘The current scenario of flaring associated gas, incidence of oil spillages and the discharge of untreated effluents into the canals, rivers and seas cannot continue indefinitely. We cannot continue to pretend that this does not affect our environment, our health, and our lives.
This committee is therefore taking the initiative in this regard.
This will involve the formulation of a legislative framework for a reviewed national policy on the environment in response to both national and global concerns.
