Imam Abubakar rescued and sheltered about 200 Christians in his mosque during an attack by suspected terrorists last year in Plateau State.
Unfortunately over 80 people were killed while trying to get into the mosque.
Gist Nigeria visits the affected communities, tells the stories of the survivors and the man who risked his life for the safety of others. For his selfless act , the Islamic cleric was conferred with the United States' International Religious Freedom Award.
