2:15Now PlayingThe Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS has suspended Mali from all its decision making bodies with immediate effects.
The regional body also ordered its member Nations to shut their land and air borders with Mali as well as stop all economic, trade and financial flows and transactions with the Country to further prevent the situation from deteriorating.
The decision is coming less than 48 hours after the ECOWAS delegation led by former President Goodluck Jonathan returned from its third mediation visit to mali to find a solution to the ongoing crisis between the president and opposition party.
