3:44Now PlayingThis is a story about a mother whose daughter had a life threatening heart complications from a late diagnosis of Down syndrome. As a result, Tonye and her family relocated to the US and the UK, for the next two and a half years, to save her daughter’s life. In 2018 with the good news of Simone’s heart functioning as normal, they returned to Nigeria.
In 2019, the mother turned her entrepreneurial drive to children’s content after noticing a severe lack of entertainment representing black and African children, special needs children and those who fall into both categories. Tonye became a children’s book author with the “Ugo and Sim Sim” series, the first worldwide to feature a black main character with Down syndrome as well as producing the first baby board book completely produced in Nigeria.
