as posted by the channelMembers of the Nigeria Labour Congress have staged a peaceful protest in Umuahia the Abia state capital, calling on the government to address the high cost of living in Nigeria.
Carrying placards with various inscriptions, the protesters gathered around the NLC secretariat on Aba road, Umuahia the Abia state capital, protesting the government’s alleged failure to implement agreements reached between both parties on October 2, 2023, following the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The protesters who terminated their protest at the government house gate in Umuahia added that the Nigeria workers are totally fed up , insisting that the decision followed the conclusion of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government to implement measures against the widespread hardship.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the NLC in Abia, Comrade Okoro Ogbonnaya who spoke on behalf of the workers said the protest is expected to continue tomorrow asking the Federal Government to let the workers breathe.
He regretted that the meeting between the federal government and the NLC last night ended in deadlock as the union vowed to kick off the protest tomorrow.
