He holds a PhD in Bacteriology from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, he undertook a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Research Unit in Microbial Food Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance, Department of Veterinary Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.
