The Ultra Mobility Vehicle, built by the Robotics and AI (RAI) Institute, has no rider, and no gyroscope. Instead, it has something far more interesting: the ability to learn.

Through thousands of trials and failures, it figured out how to balance, steer, hop on one wheel, and vault onto a one-meter platform, all on its own. The RAI Institute, a research organization pushing the frontier of robotic mobility and artificial intelligence, developed the UMV to explore just how far a machine can go when you hand it a goal and let it find its own way there.
