A police department has to revise its testing process to ENSURE that black and female applicants pass their tests at the same rate as white and male applicants.

The Department of Justice has determined that the Maryland Department of State Police was discriminatory because the written test to become a police officer is allegedly easier for white people to pass and the physical test was easier for men to pass.

The test asks questions at an elementary school level and asks questions about basic math, reading comprehension, and a section about telling time… You only need to get a 70% to pass. But because more white men passed the test than black men, the test was dubbed racist by the Department of Justice.

And since the physical exam was easier for men to pass, because they’re biologically stronger, the test was deemed sexist. None of this takes into consideration the fact that police are trying to recruit based on skills — and those skills don’t see race or gender, you just have to meet the basic threshold.

It was so hard to explain this story while keeping a straight face. This is NUTS!
