0:38Now PlayingEric Adams announced that the Roosevelt Hotel, which became a migrant shelter in May 2023, that hotel will cease operations for housing migrants in the coming months. Part of this is just logic — last year, there was an average of 4,000 migrant arrivals per week in New York City. And in 2025, it’s averaged about 350 arrivals per week. So logically, we’re not the shelters at the same pace, deportations are happening, those deportations are incentivizing people to NOT come to America, of course, NYC won’t need all these migrant shelters. The Roosevelt Hotel is one of 53 shelters and tent-based facilities that will be reportedly closed by the summer.
