I’m launching a new investigative series on left-wing ideology in the public university system and, during some recent research, I stumbled upon a video of transgender queer theorist and current University of Connecticut professor Trace Peterson performing a poem at San Francisco State University entitled “Everyone Is A Little Trans.”

The clip is a few years old, performed when Peterson was a Ph.D. student at CUNY Graduate Center, but it reveals both the content and the institutional power of Queer Theory. During the performance, Peterson invokes the magic words of the discipline—“trans,” “genderqueer,” “enby,” “genderfluid”—which demand ideological affirmation, despite the fact that the poem is self-evidently atrocious.

But in the modern academy, ideology is more important than quality of work. By leveraging his identity as a “trans woman” and checking the boxes of Queer Theory, Peterson was lavished with a series of elite rewards and publicly-financed sinecures, including positions at Yale, Emory, Hunter College, and now the University of Connecticut.

In today’s video, I explain how modern universities have turned identity into a substitute for scholarship—and how taxpayer dollars are used to subsidize left-wing political activism.
