The Left Wants to Turn “Woke” Into a Slur—And Shut Down All Debate

There has been a debate about the meaning of the word “woke.” Progressives have long insisted that conservatives cannot define the term, but the Left’s most virulent racialists, such as the commentator Touré and Washington Post columnist Damon Young, are now arguing that “woke” and other commonly-used words are a secret code for the “n-word.” This is absurd—but also dangerous, as it’s the latest gambit in the Left’s long-running campaign to suppress all criticism of its racial ideology.
