16:23Now PlayingCORRECTION about a follow up question I asked about the NYC mayoral debate question regarding foreign visits. The debate question was toward the end of the first Democratic primary debate during the lightning round. The question was "where would you go first?" for a foreign visit. You can watch the candidates' responses here (15620) Not all the candidates said they would visit Israel (Lander said he'd visit Canada for example). Mamdani was asked specifically if he'd visit Israel and he said he would stay in NYC after Cuomo and Tilson said they'd visit Israel.
Finally, "Man on the street" interviews are not necessarily reliable polling, but I think that they provide an important perspective on issues facing New Yorkers and general attitudes toward city politics.
How I film these interviews:
I ask someone if they'd like to be interviewed about the NYC mayor's race and issues facing the city (no-Billy-on-the-Street-style running up to people and shoving a mic in their face). Most people decline to be interviewed, and I am grateful to everyone who took the time to speak with me.
