Race to Resilience is a non-state actor led global campaign to catalyse a step-change in ambition and action for climate resilience, so people and nature don’t just survive climate shocks and stresses but thrive in spite of them.
The goal of the Race to Resilience campaign is to catalyse action by non-state actors to build the resilience of 4 billion people from vulnerable coastal, rural and urban communities to climate risks by 2030.
Through a partnership of initiatives, the campaign focuses on helping frontline communities to build resilience and adapt to impacts of climate change, such as heat, drought, flooding and sea-level rise.
Urban: Transform urban slums into healthy, clean and safe cities
Rural: Equip smallholder farmers to adapt and thrive
Coastal: Protect homes and businesses against climate shock
It has 30 Partners with over 2500 members over 100 geographies delivering adaptation and resilience solutions that include Nature based solutions, early warning systems, heat stress reduction networks, cities green infrastructure investments, insurance to address risk reduction, etc.
The Race to Resilience is committed to increase resilience, in collaboration with partner organisations from around the world, while developing tools to support them in their work.
This global campaign is focused on:
1/ Convening resilience efforts under a shared goal enhancing radical collaboration.
2/ Credibility: recognising the incipient work being done around resilience measurement, the Race to Resilience is committed to provide a ‘live’ metrics framework which continually updates itself, where diverse resilience efforts can be aggregated to track progress and identify opportunities for resilience building.
3/ Climate Stories: through the campaign, partner organisations are able to share their experiences and the solutions they have come up with to increase resilience in vulnerable communities.
4/ Communities: through our campaign, communities and local voices from different marginalized and vulnerable groups have a platform and space to share their perspectives and enhance capacity.
