"This is a really, really hard time for a lot of people. There is huge uncertainty, many people are feeling financial stress, many people are feeling more isolated because they can't do the things that normally let them connect to people," says Manwell Family Professor of Life Sciences (Psychology) at Amherst College, Catherine Sanderson. But one silver lining to the ongoing pandemic is that foster and adoption numbers have been on the rise. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, more than 600 people applied to foster an animal in NY and LA from March 15-31.
