The act was originally meant to curb pornography and illicit materials posted online, but except for Section 230, it was found to violate the First Amendment. As Covid-19 forces lots of communities to gather online, policy makers are re-examing how internet platforms monetize digital conversations and may look to the FCC to hold them accountable for fake news, incendiary language and other digital content.
