The applications for arrest warrants still need to be approved by a judge. The global court, based in the Netherlands, doesn't have its own enforcement mechanism for arrest warrants and relies on the support of signatory countries to make arrests. Since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan again in August 2021, the rights of women and girls have slowly been rolled back.
