Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Monday that an increased number of controllers have already called out sick during the federal government shutdown. To maintain safety with fewer controllers the Federal Aviation Administration will delay flights as needed.

“Our priorities are safety, and so if we have additional calls, we will reduce the flow consistent with a rate that’s safe for the American people,” Duffy said.
