Late Sunday, Trump lashed out at Pope Leo’s criticisms of the Iran war in a lengthy social media post, which called the pope “WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy” and claimed Leo was only elected pope “because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.”

Trump posted, then deleted, an image of him as Jesus from his Truth Social account amid intense backlash, telling reporters that he thought it was meant to portray him as a doctor. “I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with Red Cross,” he said outside the West Wing. “It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better. And I do make people better.”

Amid this fued, Vice President Vance tells the Vatican in an interview to "stick to matters of morality."
