as posted by the channelIf you'd like to solve this puzzle, you have to account for 3 things.
1. Refinery29's extremely low view count before trending but high trending numbers.
2. Refinery29 trending 39/80 videos. (which is nearly a 50% trend rate)
3. Refinery29's strange trending pattern, abruptly stopping, with seemingly no meaningful effect on any other channel.
We seem to have 3 solutions, but none of them are satisfying:
1. Manual Trending (not enough evidence)
2. Algorithm change (why do other channels not stop trending)
3. Bug fix (why does Google seem oblivious, and relish in their mistake?)
This video was filmed seriously but later edited as sort of a gumshoe detective noir. Which is a bit how I felt while researching this topic and then thinking more about it. Weird stuff.
This is a footnote to my video "What 40000 videos tell us about the trending tab" It didn't make it to the main video because I have no idea what's going on here.
