Trump Appointed Judge Just Dropped A Bomb On New York Gun Laws

In a landmark ruling, U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr. struck down New York’s controversial ban on concealed carry on private property open to the public, deeming it unconstitutional.

Judge Sinatra highlighted the fact that this law criminalized carrying a firearm on private property unless the property owner explicitly allowed it.

This ruling came out of the case Christian v. James, where Sinatra pointed out that throughout U.S. history, there’s no tradition supporting this kind of sweeping ban, and it directly conflicts with the right to self-defense.

He essentially told New York: "You can’t block law-abiding citizens from carrying firearms just because the property is open to the public"

Sinatra emphasized that the right to self-defense is foundational, even on private property accessible to the public throughout New York State.
