We’re talking 8 rounds vs. 17+1 in the same footprint. Add in faster follow-up shots, better recoil management, and lighter carry weight with modern 9mm guns like the Hellcat Pro, and it’s hard to justify the old-school .45 as anything more than a safe queen.
This isn’t a hate piece. I still love the 1911. But when it comes to real-world utility, capacity matters. Let me know in the comments—do compact 1911s still have a place in today’s self-defense world?
