The pistol brace rule.
The “engaged in business” rule.
The zero-tolerance policy against gun dealers.
The vague, shifting standards that turned law-abiding gun owners and family gun stores into targets.
But the biggest moment wasn’t just the rollbacks.
It was hearing the new ATF director publicly admit that “public safety” has been used as a crutch to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.
That’s the entire anti-gun playbook said out loud.
For years, gun owners have been told the ATF was just enforcing public safety. But when “public safety” becomes an excuse to punish pistol brace owners, shut down gun stores over paperwork mistakes, and treat ordinary Americans like criminals, it stops being safety and starts becoming control.
This does not mean the fight is over. These are proposed rules. The public comment period matters. Litigation is coming. The NFA and Gun Control Act still exist.
But for the first time in a long time, the wind is at our backs.
