as posted by the channelA streamer known as ChudTheBuilder built his brand by walking up to Black people in public, hurling racial slurs at them, and calling it First Amendment advocacy.
Now he’s facing attempted murder after a shooting outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee.
According to investigators, Dalton Eatherly got into an argument with another man outside the courthouse, shots were fired, both men were hospitalized, and the bullet that hit Eatherly reportedly came from his own gun.
This case raises a hard question:
What happens when someone uses the First Amendment as bait and the Second Amendment as backup?
Free speech protects you from the government punishing you for your opinions. It does not mean private citizens have to tolerate you provoking them. And it definitely does not mean every reaction you engineer becomes a clean self-defense claim.
At the same time, words alone do not justify violence.
That’s what makes this case complicated.
But when someone spends months livestreaming provocation, posts violent racial threats before the incident, then ends up in a courthouse shootout, a jury is going to look at all of it.
This isn’t real 2A advocacy.
It’s ragebait with a gun.
And it hands the anti-gun crowd exactly the kind of example they use to come after the rest of us.
