as posted by the channelPortland police reportedly took 30 to 40 minutes to respond to a downtown park where a man was allegedly trying to pull a 7-year-old girl out of her parents’ arms.
And the number that should stop everybody cold is this:

That’s how many officers were reportedly stationed across the entire city.
One city.
41 cops.
70 vacancies.
More than $20 million in budget cuts.
And when multiple calls came in, officers were already tied up with a barricaded suspect about a mile away.
So who stopped the man?
A bystander with pepper spray.
That’s the part nobody wants to sit with.
The same people who tell you to “just call 911” are watching cities run so thin that help may be 30, 40, or more minutes away.
Then they turn around and tell you what you should and shouldn’t be allowed to carry while you wait.
That’s the scam.
They defund or underfund the police.
They leave departments short-staffed.
They admit officers are triaging calls because there aren’t enough of them.
Then they still push gun control like the system is going to magically appear when your family needs help.
It won’t.
And that’s not a shot at police.
Police are human beings.
They are limited resources.
There is no officer assigned to you.
When danger shows up, you are the first responder whether you signed up for the job or not.
Portland just said the quiet part into a microphone.
Help isn’t always coming in time.
The only question is whether you are prepared or surprised when reality shows up.
