Yale University has set up a committee to look at which parts of their history should be renamed. Protesters were upset a building was named for Vice President John Calhoun, an 1804 Yale graduate but also a notoriously pro-slavery partisan. The trend toward avoiding our history rather than confronting it and learning from it is worrisome.
