This has always been the Holy Spirit’s message in every generation, however, when Jesus taught on ‘buying oil’ in Matthew 25, it was set in the very specific context of being prepared for the hour of His return.
I am deeply convinced that we are living in the beginning of the generation of the Lord’s return. Jesus declared clearly in Matthew 24-25 that unprecedented deception would increase along with discernible signs in the sky, in the culture, and in the Middle East leading to His literal return to the earth to rule and reign forever. He gives a whole chapter on the unique events that will indicate we are in the generation of His return, and then shares 4 parables on how we are to prepare for that time.
