There was not a ton of media on this case, so I will tell you what I know... Jerry Lane Hinshaw Jr. Was arrested on his way to work on august 16th 2019. He was brought into the police memorial building in Jacksonville Florida for questioning regarding a homicide that took place earlier that year.
The victim was 17 year old Marquise “lil red” Smith who was allegedly shot during a drug deal gone wrong. The incident took place in an isolated cemetery in West Jacksonville FL on February 5th 2019. Jerry claims he had never been to that cemetery and didn’t know Marquise...
Conclusion:
During the investigation, a confidential source provided an audio recording in which Hinshaw stated he knew the victim as “Red” and stated information on the recording that only someone involved would know. One of the individuals that was with Jerry during the shooting was also shot in the leg, they did not get him medical attention because they knew it would link him to the murder.
The bullet stayed in his leg for almost 5 months until it popped out. Hinshaw said that they killed Marquise Smith because he had stolen drugs from Jerry previously...
Jerry Lane Hinshaw Jr. pleaded guilty to manslaughter with a firearm, and he was sentenced to 30 years in prison on December 20th 2022. He is currently serving his time at the RMC West unit in Lake Butler FL and his release date is July 17th 2049.
