A judge in the murder trial of Luigi Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, ruled that prosecutors may use a gun and a notebook described as a “manifesto” as evidence. Judge Gregory Carro rejected defense claims that the items were illegally seized, giving prosecutors a partial win. However, he also ruled that other items found in Mangione’s backpack during his arrest—including a cellphone, passport, wallet, and loaded magazine—cannot be used in court.
