Karen Read, a Mansfield, Massachusetts woman, is accused of striking her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, with her SUV and leaving him to die in a snowstorm in January 2022 outside a fellow officer's house in Canton. Her defense has suggested someone else killed O'Keefe and that Read was framed.
Read’s first trial ended with deadlocked jury in July last year. She has pleaded not guilty to charges, including second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a collision.
