1:02Now PlayingZara Aleena was stalked, sexually assaulted & brutally murdered by Jordan McSweeney.
Jordan McSweeney attacked Zara Aleena in June 2022, nine days after his release on licence from prison.
He savagely kicked and stamped on Zara who was walking home in Ilford in east London.
Jordan McSweeney had 28 previous convictions for 69 separate offences, dating back 17 years including violence to his ex partners and a restraining order.
Apparently this full intelligence picture was not available to probation staff assessing his risk. Why not?
He was wrongly assessed as "medium risk" by staff and allowed out in license despite having no address to go to. He was recalled and yet nothing happened. Why not?
This is keeps happening and it’s not good enough - women pay with they lives.
Janet Scott and Pearl Black were murdered by Simon Mellors. Mellors was allowed out of prison and his stalking behaviour was not understood, even when he was reported to police and probation staff.
Assessments must be accurate and joined up and informed by the best information & intelligence. How many more women & children must die? Enough is enough.
