On 26 January 2011 27-year-old Ellen Greenberg left work early due to a snowstorm in Philadelphia. On her way she stopped for gas and spent the afternoon grading papers in the apartment she shared with Samuel Goldberg, her fiancé.

At 6.33pm Sam called 911 to report that he had just returned from the gym and found Ellen unresponsive and covered in blood in the kitchen. Half way through the call he said there was a knife sticking out of her chest. She had been stabbed twenty three times, including 10 stab wounds to the back of her head and neck.

In part 2 Laura interviews with retired forensic pathologist and medical examiner Dr D'Michelle DuPre. Laura and Dr DuPre share more insights and analysis about Ellen’s case including the 23 stab wounds and the many bruises on Ellen’s body.

In this video Laura and Dr DuPre discuss:

1. the bruises on Ellen's upper thighs and compare the bruises with other cases they have both worked;

2. forensic medical evidence of strangulation in Ellen's case;

3. non-fatal strangulation and how it relates to power and control

4. Dr Lindsey Simon’s recent 32-page report reaffirming the suicide ruling.

November is Strangulation awareness month, listen, learn and share. Understanding the patterns, risks and red flags of coercive control can save lives.

Dr Michelle Dupre previously worked in law enforcement as a detective and specialized in child abuse and domestic violence cases. Together Laura and Dr Dupre share unique new insights into what happened to Ellen on January 26 2011.
