Read's first trial ended in a mistrial on July 1 after the jury of six women and six men repeatedly informed Judge Beverly Cannone that they were hopelessly deadlocked. Subsequently, both the defense and prosecution informed the court that some members of the jury came forward to report the panel was in agreement that Read was not guilty to two of the three charges.
