BREAKING: Bryan Kohberger Gets Court Date to Fight Guilty Plea | Let’s Talk About It!

BREAKING NEWS in the Bryan Kohberger case.

Judge Steven Hippler has now scheduled a June 3, 2027 status conference and a June 17, 2027 evidentiary hearing in Bryan Kohberger’s post-conviction challenge to the guilty plea that resulted in four consecutive life sentences for the murders of University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.

Kohberger now claims his former defense attorneys pressured him into falsely confessing, misled him about what would happen if he went to death row, and failed to disclose evidence he believes could have helped his defense. His claims include ineffective assistance of counsel and allegations that his guilty plea was not voluntary.

But there is an important distinction: Judge Hippler has NOT allowed Kohberger to withdraw his guilty plea, has NOT vacated his convictions, and has NOT ordered a new murder trial. His convictions and sentences remain intact. Prosecutors have also asked the court to dismiss his post-conviction challenge without a hearing.
