Washington's Meridian Hill Park is home to a memorial for the United States' 15th president, James Buchanan. The memorial was scuplted by Hans Schuler, and dedicated in 1930. William Gordon Beecher was its achitect. Here, historian Richard Norton Smith talks about the memorial, and the efforts and money given toward it by Buchanan's niece, Harriet Lane.
