as posted by the channelVisit the Ocmulgee National Monument, an area that preserves traces of over ten millennia of Southeastern Native American culture, including major earthworks built more than 1,000 years ago by the South Appalachian Mississippian culture. These include the Great Temple and other ceremonial mounds, a burial mound, and defensive trenches. The site has evidence of "17,000 years of continuous human habitation. Visit the mounds and see some of the objects that were uncovered during a large-scale archaeological dig in the 1930s.
