Nicholas Soames, the Conservative MP and grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, spoke in the House of Commons the day after being ousted from the Conservative party he was a member of for decades, one of the 21 members ousted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson after backing a vote on Tuesday that stripped Mr. Johnson of control of the British parliament's schedule. Mr. Soames said the debate over Brexit has left other domestic issues "sadly neglected," but he rejected the "no-deal" approach of Prime Minister Johnson's government. Mr. Soames has said he will not seek reelection as an independent. The House later voted 327-299 to approve a bill that would block a "no-deal" Brexit. That measure now goes to the House of Lords.
