He is accused of using his influence to benefit three businessmen and the government of Egypt. He said the half a million dollars in cash found in his home was from his personal savings, not from bribes, and he kept it for emergencies.
It is less than week until a possible federal government shutdown unless the regular, annual appropriations bills or a short-term stopgap measure is passed by Congress and signed into law. We will hear from Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), President Joe Biden and Politico Congressional reporter Katherine Tully-McManus about what to expect this week. (14)
