Nikki Haley (R-SC) suspends her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination after losing almost every Super Tuesday state primary and caucus to rival candidate Donald Trump. She congratulates Donald Trump and wishes him well – but does not endorse him, saying Donald Trump needs to earn the support of Republican voters who so far have not voted for him.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) endorses Donald Trump for president because, in the Senator's words, "It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States."
Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) drops out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination after President Joe Biden's overwhelming Super Tuesday victories, saying he ran "because Americans were demanding an alternative, and democracy demands options. But it is clear that alternative is not me." Rep. Phillips then endorsed Joe Biden for reelection.
