Stacy Schiff: "I don't like the tenor of that question, David. So, it's France. Work is socializing, socializing his work. Right? And that is something that John Adams, to whom you owe your question, does not understand. Franklin understands that in Philadelphia, it's very important to appear to work hard and to work hard. In France, it's very important to work hard and not to appear to be working at all because that is the gracious and graceful way to do business."
