David Rubenstein: "So chick lit means a book presumably written by a woman for women only. Now, some people have characterized your writing as chick lit, but that's unfair, obviously. But when somebody says you're a chick lit writer, what do you say?"

Jodi Picoult: "I say I have to write the worst chick lit ever because chick lit is also usually fluffy and something you want to read on the beach. And that is definitely not my kind of book. But also I was so tired of being called a chick lit author that I started to track my fan mail and 50% of my fan mail I think was 49% came from men. So I think they'd be surprised."
